Amazing: N2.5trn capital expenditure for locally made goods


The National Assembly has assured the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, that significant portion of the N2.5 trillion set aside for capital expenditure in the 2017 budget will be injected into procurement of Made-in-Nigeria goods, by government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.

The Federal Government’s policy of patronising made-in-Nigeria goods by the citizens is yielding results as some citizens of the United Kingdom now order for Nigeria locally made suits. 

This came as Nigerian citizens residing in China have appealed to the Federal Government to involve them in any bilateral relations so that they could make some expertise inputs that will benefit the country.

Miners to get N5bn intervention fund from BoI

The Bank of Industry and the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development on Tuesday sealed a N5bn financing pact under the Artisanal and Small-scale Miners Financing Support Fund for the development of the mining sector.

The amount, which is to be disbursed to the miners at a single-digit interest rate of five per cent with a repayment period of between one year and five years, is aimed at addressing the funding challenges in the sector.

Local oil and gas firms to get funds from Nigerian Government

 


 Nigeria launched a fund on Thursday with an initial value of $200 million to support local oil and gas firms, the oil minister said, part of a government drive to improve access to low-cost credit across the economy.

The Nigerian Content Development Fund (NCDF) would be financed through allocating the fund one percent of the value of all contracts awarded in the state-run upstream oil and gas industry, Petroleum Ministry said.

Oil sales make up about two-thirds of national revenues in Africa's biggest economy, which is in its first recession in 25 years largely caused by low global crude prices.

Local meter manufacturing to kick off




Global Utilities Management Company, a subsidiary of Vigeo Group, has signed a long-term partnership agreement with Genus Power Infrastructures Limited to manufacture, assemble and develop power metering solutions for Nigeria and other countries in West Africa.

A statement said the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Chairman, Vigeo Group, Mr. Victor Osibodu, on behalf of GUMCO, and the Executive Vice-President, Genus Power Infrastructures, Mr. R. Viswanathan.

It said the MoU signified the intention to collaborate closely on developing viable solutions to meet Nigeria and West Africa’s power metering needs, and provide a framework for joint research, setup and deployment to develop innovative features tailored towards the challenges of the West African power market.

Bank of industry plans to increase risk assets for firms
